Chicago Garbage truck
Two city garbage trucks collided, one hitting a power line, in the Little Village neighborhood Wednesday morning, injuring one person and knocking out power to about 1, 600 customers - including the Cook County criminal courts building, authorities said.
One driver went to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition, according to the Fire Department.
Both trucks remained upright after the crash, but the rear of one was "up in the air, " having hit a power line, according to a Fire Department tweet.
ComEd was notified about 11:30 a.m., and the outage affected about 1, 600 customers, including the Leighton Criminal Court Building, 2650 S. California Ave., said Linsey Wisniewski, a utility spokeswoman. Crews were in the process of restoring power and expected to have customers restored on a rolling basis by 3 p.m.
At criminal court, some judges relocated their afternoon hearings because of a lack of working elevators.
The trucks involved were city Streets and Sanitation vehicles, a spokeswoman for the department said, but the department was still investigating the circumstances and didn't immediately have more information.
